People with disabilities often experience difficulties in their daily lives, and are limited in their activities and social participation, and comprise 15% of the global population with a minimum estimated 1 billion. The number of people with disabilities increased every year in Taiwan from 3.8% in 2003 to 4.6% in 2011. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) is the promulgated by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2001 to describe health and disability at both the individual and societal level. The ICF system provides an excellent scientific approach to collecting reliable statistics on disabled populations. In 2007, Taiwan legislated a constitutional amendment known as the People with Disabilities Rights Protection Act. Since July 2012, the act has mandated that the assessment of individual eligibility for disability benefits should be based on the ICF framework. Nowadays, nearly 700,000 persons with disability get their social welfare service and benefits through the newly implemented ICF system. The specific aims of this speech were to: 1) describe the implementation process of the ICF system; 2) compare the differences between the former and present disability systems; 3) analyze the advantage of the ICF disability system for persons with disability. Like knowledge in other fields, the knowledge underpinning nursing changes rapidly. With this comes new technologies to assist in the provision of health care which nurses need to be able to utilise effectively. Increasing focus on patient safety and quality, along with better informed consumers, means that nurses must be increasingly knowledgeable and accountable and use evidence to support their practice, as well as generate knowledge to inform nursing practice. They must have the skills to participate effectively within the interprofessional team. Issues such as globalisation of the workforce and generational change further pose new challenges in maintaining a responsive and well educated workforce. This presentation will explore these issues in the context of the need for providing contemporary nursing education in order to meet the changing health care environment and ensure optimal patient and community health outcomes. It will also introduce some of the emerging educational models in response to such changes.
Lisa McKenna Copyright (c) 0 https://conferences.unusa.ac.id/index.php/SIHC17/article/view/251 Tue, 18 Jul 2017 00:00:00 +0000 TRADITIONAL TO RATIONAL AND MODERN PHYTOPHARMACA HANDAYANI https://conferences.unusa.ac.id/index.php/SIHC17/article/view/252
The use of traditional/herbal medicine in both developing and developed countriestends to increase. Eighteen students were selected as participants through purposive sampling. Data were gathered through individual unstructured interviews and focus group discussions and analyzed following the Colaizzi’s process. Three main themes with their corresponding subthemes emerged from this study: 1) Teaching and Learning Support comprising clinical supervision, mentors and role modeling interplay with theory and practice, 2) Clinical Practice that resulted to character and values development, clinical responsibility, competency enhancement and anxiety and stress. The students likewise developed self-confidence, enjoyed and appreciated clinical practice; and 3) Interpersonal Relations centered on the attitude of staff nurses, doctors, clinical instructors, students’ emotions, and coping strategies. The participants perceived some of their Clinical instructors (CIs) as role models who helped them hone their competency skills and developed moral values. They encountered stresses that greatly affected their personal life and academic performance. To adequately prepare students for clinical practice, orientation procedures must be strengthened; the CIs should serve as role models not only in thought and in words but also in deed; pre and post conferences should be conducted regularly to promote meaningful and inspiring clinical experiences. The findings should be disseminated to the affiliating agencies and further studies be conducted on students’ clinical experiences in the community.
Julieta T. It is in this premise that efforts are being undertaken to improve the health system of every country. The focus of the study was on the different components of the Local Health Care System and the quality of health services of selected Rural Health Units and District Hospitals in the Philippines. The study revealed that the Administrative Capability along leadership and good governance is “moderate”. Along the capability of health personnel in terms of ratio to total population, only two municipalities have the ideal number of doctors and nurses while only five municipalities have an ideal number of midwives. There is also a shortage of human resources for health, particularly doctors, in almost all the district hospitals. However, the limited number of nurses and midwives is compensated by the presence of contractual and volunteer nurses and midwives. In general, the clients expressed their satisfaction on the services provided. Suggestions were made largely on availability of free medicines, laboratory services, reduction of waiting time and improvement of facilities. Efforts should be undertaken to ensure that programs and policies are implemented and objectives are reached through improved coordination across local health systems.
Marlou R. An emerging type of immune disorder, called adult-onset immunodeficiency syndrome, has currently reported in patients who show defects in IFN-γ signaling commonly resulted from the generation of antiIFN-γ autoantibody and partly due to mutations in IFN-γ signaling molecules. In these cases, tuberculosis and non-tuberculosis mycobacteria infection are frequently identified regarding IFN-γ is potent anti-tuberculosis cytokine. Until now, the detection of anti-IFN-γ autoantibody is not recurrently in clinical and the immunopathogenesis of anti-IFN-γ autoantibody remains unclear. This study aims to develop methods for the detection of antiIFN-γ autoantibody in patients with adult-onset immunodeficiency and plans to characterize the immunopathogenic effects of anti-IFN-γ autoantibody. Specific Aim 1 of this study is to develop methods for detecting anti-IFN-γ autoantibody. ELISA and western blot are utilized in this study. The possible binding site is next evaluated by using synthetic peptide binding assay. According to the results, we propose that the generation of anti-IFN-γ autoantibody may neutralize IFN-γ effectively. Specific Aim 2 is to perform those all functional assay to check IFN-γ-activated STAT-IRF1 signaling pathway as well as IFN-γ- mediated nitric oxide generation, cytokine/chemokine production, T cell activation, and anti- tuberculosis activity. These results provide methods for autoantibody detection and characterize the blockade effects of autoantibody on IFN-γ signaling and bioactivity.
Dyah Ika Krisnawati Copyright (c) 0 https://conferences.unusa.ac.id/index.php/SIHC17/article/view/258 Tue, 18 Jul 2017 00:00:00 +0000 INFLUENCE OF DISASTER PREPAREDNESS EDUCATION ON SDN PACET 1 STUDENTS’ PREPAREDNESS AGAINST DISASTER AT MOJOKERTO https://conferences.unusa.ac.id/index.php/SIHC17/article/view/260
Regions in Indonesia is a ring of fire and Mojokerto is one area that is prone to landslides. This psychological burden is often experienced by the pregnant women, especially the primigravid women in the third trimester. The treatment for anxiety can be done by giving pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. One of the non-pharmacological therapies is progressive muscle relaxation, the systematic technique to achieve a state of relaxation. Therefore, this study was purposed to analyze the effects of progressive muscle relaxation on the level of anxiety experienced by the primigravid women in the third trimester. This quasi-experimental study was done using one group pretest-posttest design. The study conducted in BPM Ika Mardiyanti involved 32 pregnant women chosen by using accidental sampling technique. The instrument used to measure the level of anxiety was Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS). Moreover, the non-parametric test using Wilcoxon signed rank test with the significance level of α = 0.05 was used to analyze the collected data. Each pregnant woman received the intervention by performing progressive muscle relaxation once a day for 10 minutes done on 3 consecutive days. BMI is a measurement of body weight based on height and weight. Although BMI does not actually "measure" the percentage of body fat, it is a useful tool to estimate a healthy body weight based on height. Due to its ease of measurement and calculation, it is the most widely used diagnostic indicator to identify a person's optimal weight depending on his height. BMI "number" will inform someone if they were underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese.
